About the event

The Art of Pysanky Workshop -- Etching and Dyeing Techniques Belington Golden Rule (122 Crim Ave) Friday, September 18th 10am-2pm
Pysanky writing is an Eastern Europe tradition usually handed down from the mother to her children. Ukrainian Easter Eggs are probably the most well known Pysanky. This class will teach Pysanky writing through basic etching and dyeing techniques. You will learn and practice covering your egg’s design with wax by layering the wax over dyes and etching with vinegar.
Etching is a process of soaking your egg in vinegar to remove small amounts of the surface of the egg. Wax preserves the surface and/or dye underneath while the vinegar removes a layer of the exposed shell revealing a lighter color and gives texture to your egg.
The class will be held in The Golden Rule Building at The Belington Bakery in Belington, WV.
Included with your class fee is one medium kistka, one small block of beeswax and one…
